Extreme Ombre Hair: DIY

So as you may of seen earlier I dyed my hair for the first time! I love ombre hair mostly because of a single picture of Katie Shillingford that I was in awe of around the start of the year.

Since I had never dyed my hair before I consulted the great Youtube/Google. Which directed me to the lovely Zoey “Zoella” is her blog. She has a DIY on ombre your hair that is very popular. Hence why it came up on my google search. (As a side note check out the rest of her blog is awesome. I have never talk to her or anything, I am saying this purely because it’s true.) Continuing on, I watch around 15 videos of other blogger or youtubers explaining how they did they’res. I got a couple basics out of all them

  • Don’t go to the salon, they do a series of highlights. (Although I bet they do it that way cause it’s healthier.)
  • Have a free day for this, you’ll be bleaching 3 to 4 times. Lower and Lower each time.
  • Strong bleach for dark hair. I know this must be obvious but hey doesn’t hurt to say it.
  • Remember not to go to high up when dying.

I went to my local Beauty Supply store which is name Beauty Supply…and got Manic Panic Flash Lighting bleaching kit. Most people in the videos got a Loreal highlighter kit. But the cashier said it was very popular and it was $9.95 so I figure it would do the job.

Comes with:

  • Mixing tub
  • Brush
  • developer
  • bleach powder
  • shower cap (I didn’t use it)
  • Glover
  • Instructions

I also used foil to wrap my hair in. Anyways I read the instruction, and foiled my hair and waited 60 minutes. Because I have Dark brown hair. (Times are on the box)

     (Awful, Lazy Iphone pictures ahead!)

Then took a shower.

and blow dried.

As you can see it was very copper toned when I did Round One. Thats why you do more than once. Other wise it just isn’t quite right. So I went for another go. This time only doing the lower lower part of my hair and tips.

After that and a bit more messing around. (Touching it, being in awe.) I was done. I am going to retouch it or make it a bit lighter later on maybe…? I don’t know but I want to think about so this is the final result for now.
